Green 1 - The Re-build

The re-build of Green 2 is almost completed (see photographs further down the page).  So the re-build of our number 1 Green has started in earnest.

The re-build method is by using strong pre-formed concrete pieces in an upside down T shape.  This results in an ability to provide very strong foundations and may be the first time this construction method has been used for a bowls green.  Many thanks are due to Paul Mathers and his team for building these units.

The old concrete surround has been removed, the trench around the green widened, filled with hard core and crusher dust and the pre-cast concrete surrounds have been put in place.  Over the coming months the area should be looking something like a bowling green again.

The re-build of Green 1 would not be possible without the help of the Trusts named further down the page.

Please browse the photographs below:-

Green 2 -  Members Working Bee - 29 April 2012

A very large turn-out of 42 members arrived for the working bee and much more work was done on both Greens than originally expected.  The photographs below illustrate some of the work achieved.

Green 2 is expected to be open by the start of the new season in September 2012, with Green 1 following a few months later.
